Texas Instruments bq25171EVM Charger Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments bq25171EVM Charger Evaluation Module (EVM) is designed to help the user evaluate and test the various operating modes of the bq25171 device. The bq25171 is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC for 1-2 cell Li-Ion/LiFePO4/LiPolymer or 1-6 cell NiMH. Battery chemistry is programed using the CHM_TMR pin with an external resistor. Charging voltage can be adjusted on the Texas Instruments bq25171EVM using external resistors on VSET. Charging current can be set from 60mA to 600mA with an external resistor on ISET.

Features

  • Complete solution for evaluation of the small form factor linear charger capable of providing up to 800mA to a single li-ion or LiFePO4 battery
  • Popular configuration can be selected using the switches
  • Adjustments for charge current over a wide range along with TS sensing

Required Equipment

  • Battery simulators such as Keithly 2400 or equivalent or a single/dual-cell battery
  • Power supply, for single-cell 5V 1A input, for dual-cell 12V 1A input
    • Note that the unit can operate up to 18V input
  • Voltage meter
  • Current meter
