Microchip Technology dsPIC33AK Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) are designed for high-performance and real-time precision control applications. These DSCs combine the advantages of MCUs with the signal processing capabilities of digital signal processors (DSPs). The dsPIC33AK DSCs are suitable for a wide variety of applications that require quick control loop computations using multiple sensor inputs. These DSCs feature high performance, DP-FPU, enhanced pipelining, high-speed analog peripherals, and advanced peripherals. Typical applications include power factor correction (PFC), DC/DC converters, DC/AC, motor control, advanced sensor interfacing, high-performance embedded control, safety-critical designs, and digital lighting.
Functional Safety
The dsPIC33A DSCs offer a range of integrated hardware safety features. These DSCs also develop safety-critical applications to meet the ISO 26262 (ASIL B), IEC 61508 (SIL 2), and IEC 60730 (Class B) functional safety requirements. The hardware safety features include flash error-correcting code (ECC), RAM ECC, IO pin integrity monitors, clock monitoring, deadman timer (DMT), cyclic redundancy check (CRC), and watchdog timer (WDT).

The dsPIC33A DSCs offer a range of scalable security features for implementing protection meas embedded applications. The hardware security features enable realizing secure use cases such as secure boot and secure firmware update, secure debug and disable entry into debug, and more.
