Littelfuse Industrial Communication and Control provides protection for RS-485 and Ethernet applications. The Industrial RS-485 features the capability of driving multiple ports, a fast speed rating of 10Mbps, and a long-distance transmission of 1500. Industrial Ethernet provides a long-distance transmission of 100m, a 30W PoE+ rating, and a fast speed rating of 1Gbps. Littelfuse Industrial Communication and Control RS-485 and Ethernet devices are ideal for energy meters, factory automation, wind control, and human machine interface. 

RS-485 ESD, Lightning, & Power Fault Protection

Littelfuse RS-485 ESD, Lightning, and Power Fault Protection feature polymeric positive temperature coefficients (PPTCs) that can protect against short circuit and power crosses. The RS-485 product line includes the resettable PPTCs, TVS diodes, GDTs, and SIDACtor series. The TVS Diode Arrays and SM712 series are specifically designed to protect RS-485 applications from ESD, EFT, and lightning-induced surges. When lightning occurs, the SIDACtor will react by causing voltage to increase across PPTC until GDT fires. 

General Port Protection Solutions

Littelfuse General Port Protection provides a wide array of solutions for power and communication ports. Ports need protection from common electrical hazards such as lightning surges, induced power surges, power cross, electrical fast transient, electrostatic discharge, and short-circuits due to aging wires or installation errors. 3mm 2-Pole Chip Type Gas Discharge Tubes

TE Connectivity 3mm 2-Pole Chip Type Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs) help protect sensitive telecom equipment applications such as communication, signal, and transmission lines from lightning strikes and equipment switching operations. These devices offer a high level of surge protection, low capacitance, and a broad array of breakover voltage levels from 75V to 4000V, making them suitable for applications such as high data-rate telecom communication network protection (e.g. ADSL, VDSL).

Littelfuse GDTs are designed to dissipate large amounts of energy and are ideal for lightning surge protection. GDTs are widely applied to outdoor telecommunications equipment.
